Anthony Vernon Rickard, Jr.
( June 6, 1942 - July 7, 2010 )

Mr. Anthony Vernon Rickard, Jr., age 68 of 229 Rickard Lane in Iron Station, died on Wednesday, July 7, 2010.

 

His funeral service will be 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 10, 2010 at Sharon Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Brittain and Rev. Jim Harris officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm on Friday, July 9, 2010 at Warlick Funeral Home.

 

Mr. Rickard was born June 6, 1942 in Lincoln County to the late Anthony Vernon Rickard, Sr. and Minnie Rachael Smith Rickard.  Mr. Rickard also served in the United States Navy.    He was an avid rose grower, hybridizer, consulting rosarian, President of the Cleveland/Lincoln County Rose Society.   He built fences and inground pools for over 25+ years in our community.  Mr. Rickard was a member and active supporter of Sharon Baptist Church.  At the top of his heart was God and his family.  

 

He is survived by his wife, Nancy C. Rickard of the home; one son, Mark Rickard and wife Jenny of Iron Station; one daughter, Tammy Froneberger and husband Robin of Iron Station; one brother, James Michael Rickard of Gastonia; one sister, Pat Harris of Gastonia; and six grandchildren, Megan, Zachary, and Anna Froneberger, and Harrison, Nevan, and Pierson Rickard, all of Iron Station. 

 

Memorials may be made to Holy Angels, 6600 Wilkinson Blvd., Belmont, NC 28012-2796.
